If the coronavirus pandemic has you feeling anxious, lonely, or stressed; you certainly are not alone.

Many of us are feeling worried about the future and find ourselves getting caught in a cycle of negative thinking. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to combat those thoughts and feelings, and we’re here to share a few!

Be Kind

Be kind not only to yourself, but to those around you. We keep hearing the phrase “we’re all in this together” and it’s true, we are all experiencing the same worries, the same feelings, and kindness can go a long way in times like these. Call up a friend who may be feeling lonely, offer a helping hand to someone in need, and be patient with yourself.

Practice Meditation

Meditation is about clearing your thoughts and objectively letting them arise and then letting them go. Picture yourself in a place where you feel the most at peace, maybe on a beach, or out in nature, and focus on that. Allow yourself to feel safe and comforted. Any time you are feeling stressed or anxious, close your eyes and transport yourself back to your safe place.

Express Gratitude

It can understandably be difficult to find things we are thankful for in the midst of a health crisis, however, now more than ever it is important to try. Think about your family or friends, your home, pets, activities you enjoy doing, the flowers that are starting to bloom; look for the things in your life that will remain unchanged during this time.

Exercise

Though we may be spending our time indoors, it is still important to find ways to move every day. Consider taking up yoga, or take walks around your home, no matter how big or small, find some way to move around. Keeping ourselves mobile and active is important to both our physical and mental health.

Get Fresh Air

A bit of sunshine and fresh air can do wonders for calming anxiety. Spend some time sitting outside if you can, or open a window and let the natural light and crisp air fill your room.

Breathe

If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed, take a moment to breathe. Slow and steady breathing is the best way to calm our nervous system and it will instantly stop anxiety in its tracks. Take a few slow breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth. Keep this technique in mind any time you start to feel your anxiety rising.
