Winter has finally ended, and the snow has all melted away, however we haven’t yet arrived at the days of endless sunshine and warmth.
While we wait for the last of winter’s chill to make it’s exit, why not create an indoor garden? Gardening has endless benefits, both physically and mentally like reducing blood pressure and anxiety. Not only that, but it also creates fresh oxygen that only nature can provide. Here are a few tips to get your indoor garden up and running:
Choose greenery that will be most receptive to your surroundings. Consider growing succulents – these low maintenance beauties require very little attention, so they are ideal for the busy gardener. All they need is water once in a while, occasional sun, and what’s even better is they can thrive in any environment.
- Another great idea is to plant an edible garden. Some of the easiest herbs to grow are basil, cilantro, lavender, mint and chives. These plants typically grow quickly, and you can reap the rewards of cooking with your own grown herbs!
- For more of a novice gardener, plans such as the African Violet, Devil’s Ivy, and Spider plant are all excellent to start with. They require little light and watering, so you don’t have to stress if you forget a day of watering and don’t need to keep a super close eye on your plants.
- Another fun idea to prepare for your indoor garden is to paint terracotta pots to plant your vegetation in. Spice up your space by putting your own unique touch on each container. Painting pots would be a great idea to do with visiting grandkids or even as a fun activity to do with friends!
